Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park covers Mount Meru, a prominent volcano with an elevation of 4566 m, in the Arusha Region of north eastern Tanzania. The Park is small but varied with spectacular landscapes in three distinct areas. In the west, the Meru Crater funnels the Jekukumia River; the peak of Mount Meru lies on its rim.
This Park is famous for being a home to the Tanzania’s second highest mountain, Mount Meru and the world’s largest population of giraffes. It covers 552 square kilometers. Arusha National Park is 35 kilometers from Kilimanjaro International Airport.
The park harbors incredible wildlife species that cannot be viewed in other national parks in the northern circuit including vegetation types like the lush rainforest, savannah, alpine vegetation, animals like buffaloes, bushbucks, warthogs, zebras, red duikers, elephants, giraffes, leopards, hippos, primates like black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, bird species like grey crowned crane, flamingos, African fish eagle, hartlaubs turaco, secretary birds among others.
