2 Days 1 Night Hot Springs Safari
Nairobi, Nakuru, Bogoria, Nairobi
Tour Highlights
Lake Bogoria is a saline, alkaline lake that lies in a volcanic region south of Lake Baringo, a little north of the equator. Lake Bogoria, like Lake Nakuru and Lake Elementaita in Kenya’s Rift Valley, is home, at times, to one of the world’s largest populations of lesser flamingos. The lake is also famous for its natural geysers and hot springs, which are situated along the bank of the lake and within the lake.
Day 1: Nairobi – Bogoria
Pick up from Nairobi Hotel.
This morning we drive through the dramatic Great Rift Valley.
Stop at the Great Rift Valley View Point. The Great Rift Valley is a geographical and geological feature running north to south for around 6,400 kilometers, from northern Syria to central Mozambique. Astronauts say it is the most significant physical detail on the planet that is visible from space.
Arrive for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Game Lodge.
After lunch depart for exciting afternoon game at Lake Nakuru National Park.
The park is no longer home to its once famous flamingo flocks, but it remains a world class game drive destination. Four of the Big Five are present (with elephants being the notable absence), with both buffalo and rhinoceros being especially common in the park.
You'll enjoy a day long game drive along the shores of Lake Nakuru taking in its diverse variety of both animal and bird life.
The bird life here is world renown and over 400 bird’s species exist here, White Pelicans, Plovers, Egrets and Marabou Stork. It is also one of the very few places in Africa to see the White Rhino and rare Rothschild Giraffe.
Depart from Nakuru to Bogoria.
Dinner & Overnight at Lake Bogoria Spa Resort or similar. (Full Board)
Day 2: Bogoria - Nairobi
After Breakfast client check out of the Hotel.
Depart for visit to hot springs at Lake Bogoria with packed lunch.
Over 2 million flamingos are known to occupy Lake Bogoria at any one time. They can be found here at any time of year, making the lake one of the best spots to see flamingos.
Besides the dazzling display of fuchsia pink lesser flamingoes and a small number of greater flamingoes blanketing the lake, the area features over 200 steaming volcanic springs. Most of these lies alongside the lake, but a few feed into the lake floor itself.
In various locations around and within the lake up to 10 geysers can be spotted, their plumes rising up to 5m (16ft) high. In all, the park contains more geysers than any other spot in Africa – a total of 18.
You can go to Bogoria to see the flamingoes, do cycling or boil an egg in the hot springs. After Lunch, depart for Nairobi
