Embark on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Uganda, where the lush forests of Bwindi and Kibale offer rare opportunities to observe primates in their natural habitat. Trek through dense rainforest in search of mountain gorillas in Bwindi and chimpanzees in Kibale Forest—two of the most thrilling wildlife encounters in Africa. Along the way, enjoy Uganda’s breathtaking landscapes and connect with the rich cultural heritage of the Batwa people, the original forest dwellers.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. Depending on your arrival time, spend the day relaxing or visit local attractions such as Entebbe Botanical Gardens, Mabamba Wetland (home to the rare shoebill stork) or Ngamba Island Chimpanzee Sanctuary (optional boat trip)

After an early breakfast, begin your scenic 6–7-hour drive westward to Kibale Forest National Park, passing through lush countryside, tea plantations, and rural villages. Arrive in time for lunch and check-in at your lodge near the park. In the afternoon, enjoy a guided walk through the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a community-run eco-tourism project known for its rich biodiversity—including monkeys, otters, and over 200 bird species.
Overnight: At your preferred lodge near Kibale
After breakfast, head into the forest for your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Accompanied by a guide and tracker, you’ll follow the calls and movement of these intelligent primates through the forest. The experience lasts 2–4 hours and offers the chance to also spot red colobus, monkeys, and forest birds. After lunch, begin the 5–6-hour scenic drive south to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the evening. Check in at your lodge and relax as you prepare for the next day’s gorilla trek.
Overnight: At your preferred lodge in Bwindi
Enjoy an early breakfast before heading to the park headquarters for a briefing at 8:00 AM. Then embark on your gorilla trek, hiking through thick rainforest terrain to locate one of Bwindi’s 20 habituated gorilla families. Depending on the location, the trek may take between 1 and 6 hours. Once you find them, spend one magical hour observing the gorillas—an experience that is both humbling and unforgettable. In the afternoon, visit a Batwa community and learn about their traditional way of life, forest survival skills, and efforts to preserve their cultural heritage after being relocated from the forest in the early 1990s.
Overnight: At your preferred lodge in Bwindi
After breakfast, transfer to Kihihi Airstrip for your scenic domestic flight back to Entebbe. On arrival, connect to your international flight or proceed with onward travel.
